St. Sinchill’s Camogie COUNTY CHAMPS !!
Our u13 girls had a great win in the B League final versus Tullamore last Saturday 6th October. These girls also had a comprehensive victory over Birr in the semi-final on the 11th of September. It is worth noting that this semi-final was the first time all year we had our full panel to select from. St. Sinchill’s beat Birr with a score line of 11-7 to 3-2. Our scorers that day were Sarah Dillon (6-1), Jane Murray (2-3), Hu Yen Glynn (2-0), Bridin Walsh (1-1) and Hannah Troy (0-2).
In the League final, Tullamore got off to a flying start scoring 1-1 in the first five minutes. The St. Sinchill’s girls remained calm, worked hard but it took almost ten minutes to break down the Tullamore defence when Sarah Dillon helped settle our nerves with her first goal of the match. This was followed by 1-1 from Jane Murray and a second goal from Sarah Dillon to give St. Sinchill’s a lead of 3-1 to 1-1 at halftime. The St. Sinchill’s girls took more control of the match in the second half with sterling defensive work making it very difficult for Tullamore to create any scoring opportunities. St. Sinchill’s scored 3-1 in the second half and Tullamore’s ‘never-say-die attitude ‘was rewarded with a point leaving the full-time score at: St. Sinchill’s 6-1, Tullamore 1-02.
